What this amendment would do

Mr. Kaine submitted amendment SA 1799 to the concurrent resolution for the 2025 congressional budget.

The purpose of this amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to preventing waste.

It aims to allow the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Budget to revise budget allocations, aggregates, and other levels, and make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger.

These changes are for legislation related to adjudicating immigration cases, specifically to prevent the Attorney General from removing, reassigning, or furloughing, without cause, permanent immigration judges or assistant chief immigration judges if the Attorney General is actively seeking to hire temporary immigration judges.

To make this happen, the legislation must not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
