What this amendment would do

MR. SCHATZ submitted amendment SA 1768, which proposes a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to congressional review of the imposition of tariffs by the President.

The purpose of this amendment is to allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution. It also allows the Chairman to make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger.

This can be done for one or more bills, joint resolutions, amendments, amendments between the Houses, motions, or conference reports relating to congressional review of the imposition of tariffs by the President. The adjustments will match the amounts provided in such legislation, as long as the legislation does not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
