What this amendment would do
Mr. Reed and a group of other Senators introduced amendment SA 1747 to the concurrent resolution on the budget for fiscal year 2025.
The purpose of this amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund. This fund relates to expanding educational and cultural opportunities for all people in the United States and reversing attacks on key cultural agencies.
What It Aims to Change or Add
The amendment aims to allow the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Budget to change budget allocations and make adjustments for legislation that expands educational and cultural opportunities.
Specifically, this can include increasing funding for the following organizations:
-
The Institute of Museum and Library Services
-
The National Endowment for the Arts
-
The National Endowment for the Humanities
For the budget levels to be adjusted, the legislation must not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
