What this amendment would do
-
Submitted by Ms. Slotkin, amendment SA 1701 sets up a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to addressing homelessness and the rising cost of housing.
-
It aims to allow the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Budget to revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other levels, and make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger.
-
These changes are for one or more bills, joint resolutions, amendments, amendments between the Houses, motions, or conference reports that relate to addressing homelessness and the rising cost of housing.
-
The actions may include prohibiting legislation that closes field offices, reduces funding and staff, rescinds obligated grant awards, or depletes other resources administered by the Department of Housing and Urban Development that contribute toward the development of affordable units.
-
This is allowed by the amounts provided in such legislation, provided that the legislation would not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
