What this amendment would do
This is amendment SA 1662, submitted by Mr. Welch along with several other Senators. Its purpose is to set up a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to protecting disaster survivors' data privacy.
Specifically, it aims to allow the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Budget to revise certain financial allocations and make adjustments for legislation related to data privacy. This includes ensuring that the Administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency complies with a specific section of the United States Code to protect the data privacy of disaster survivors when they interact with personnel of the U.S. DOGE Service Temporary Organization or any successor agency.
