What this amendment would do
Mr. Padilla submitted this amendment to create a new rule in the Senate. As folks we voted into office handle our budget, this amendment aims to hold them accountable by setting up a point of order against certain legislation.
What It Aims to Change or Add
- It adds a rule making it out of order in the Senate to consider specific bills, joint resolutions, amendments, or conference reports if they would eliminate the tax-exempt status of certain bonds.
- The bonds protected under this rule include State and local municipal bonds, private activity bonds, Build America bonds, and other non-municipal bonds.
