What this amendment would do
MR. PADILLA submitted SA 1632 to the concurrent resolution establishing the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2025 and setting forth the appropriate budgetary levels for fiscal years 2026 through 2034.
Purpose and Changes
The purpose of this amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund. This fund allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to change allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution, and to make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger.
These adjustments can be made for legislation relating to preserving development of and access to units of the National Park System and public lands, as long as that legislation does not increase the deficit from fiscal year 2025 through fiscal year 2034.
The legislation can include:
-
Reversing unjustified employment terminations of Department of the Interior staff to ensure an enjoyable experience for recreational visitors
-
The uninterrupted operation of water infrastructure
-
The continuation of important energy projects
