What this amendment would do

As folks looking out for the everyday people, we need to keep track of what our elected officials are trying to do with our laws. Ms. Cortez Masto submitted SA 1570, which is an amendment targeted at the congressional budget for the fiscal year 2025 and setting forth levels through 2034.

  • The amendment aims to add a new point of order against funding immigration enforcement actions at hospitals.

  • Because of this change, it will not be in order in the Senate to consider any bill, joint resolution, motion, amendment, or conference report that funds immigration enforcement actions at hospitals.

  • To get around this rule and waive or suspend it, it would take an affirmative vote of three-fifths of the chosen and sworn members of the Senate.
