What this amendment would do
What it does: This amendment sets up a deficit-neutral reserve fund related to lowering prescription drug prices.
- It allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to make adjustments and revise allocations, aggregates, and the pay-as-you-go ledger.
- These changes are for legislation relating to lowering prescription drug prices.
- This can include putting monetary penalties on drug manufacturers for commercial market prescription drug sales if their average price goes up faster than the rate of inflation, or putting other policies in place that penalize drug manufacturers for raising prices faster than inflation.
- The legislation must not increase the deficit over the total of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
