What this amendment would do
Ms. Alsobrooks, along with Mr. Kim, submitted SA 1471 to the concurrent resolution for the congressional budget for fiscal year 2025.
The purpose of this amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to civil servants.
Here is what it aims to do:
- Allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to make adjustments to budget allocations and the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation relating to civil servants.
- Focus on protecting civil servants from workforce reductions that would threaten public safety, public health, the economy, or the national security of the United States.
- Ensure that the legislation does not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
