What this amendment would do
This amendment was submitted by Ms. Alsobrooks, along with Ms. Rosen and Mr. Kim, for the congressional budget resolution for fiscal year 2025.
The purpose of the amendment is to set up a deficit-neutral reserve fund. This fund allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to make changes and adjustments for legislation related to the Federal workforce.
Specifically, it aims to allow for changes that prevent a reduction in force or other reorganization to the Office for Civil Rights of the Department of Education that would hinder or delay investigations into antisemitism or other forms of discrimination. Any legislation using this fund cannot increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
