What this amendment would do

Mr. Kim, along with his colleagues Ms. Alsobrooks, Ms. Duckworth, and Mr. Kaine, submitted amendment SA 1451. The purpose of this amendment is to set up a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to expanding support under Medicare or Medicaid for long-term care for seniors.

What It Aims to Change or Add

The amendment aims to add a section to the concurrent resolution that allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to make certain changes. Specifically, the Chairman may revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels, and make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger.

These changes can be made for legislation relating to health care, which may include legislation to expand support under Medicare or Medicaid for long-term services and supports for seniors. These adjustments are allowed as long as the legislation does not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
