A Senate resolution is the Senate speaking for itself: stating a position, honouring someone, or setting its own rules. Adopting it is the whole process. Once the Senate agrees to it, it is officially the Senate's word; it is not a law, so the House and the President have no part in it.

What this bill would do

This resolution honors the life of Sergeant Scott Heimann of Hays, Kansas. Sergeant Heimann served his community with honor and dedication starting in 2016. He was a local resident who attended the University of Kansas and graduated from the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center. He was recognized as an Outstanding Eagle Scout in the Community in 2019 and participated in reading sessions at the Hays Public Library. Tragically, Sergeant Heimann was killed in the line of duty on September 27, 2025, while responding to a domestic violence incident. The Senate seeks to pay tribute to his sacrifice and express condolences to his family.
