What this bill would do
The Exclusive Citizenship Act of 2025 aims to establish that United States citizens must owe sole and exclusive allegiance to the country. It seeks to prevent individuals from holding both United States citizenship and any foreign citizenship simultaneously. Under this bill, citizens who voluntarily acquire foreign citizenship after enactment will be deemed to have relinquished their United States citizenship. Existing dual citizens must either renounce their foreign citizenship or their United States citizenship within one year. Failure to comply with these requirements results in the individual being deemed to have voluntarily relinquished their United States citizenship.
