What this bill would do

This bill is known as the Protecting American Farmland Act. It stops the heads of Federal agencies from using Federal funds, loans, or loan guarantees for certain solar energy projects that convert prime farmland. The bill also excludes solar property and facilities placed in service on prime farmland from several specific clean energy tax credits. These tax credit exclusions apply to the residential clean energy credit, the renewable electricity production credit, the clean electricity production credit, the energy credit, and the clean electricity investment credit. The changes regarding tax credits and funding apply to property and facilities placed in service after the date of the enactment of the Act.
