What this bill would do
This bill is known as the Direct Interstate Retail Exemption for Certain Transactions Act of 2025, or the DIRECT Act of 2025. It amends the Federal Meat Inspection Act and the Poultry Products Inspection Act. The main goal is to allow for the interstate internet sales of certain state-inspected meat and poultry. It sets rules so that retail stores, restaurants, and similar establishments can sell these products over the internet. The products must be shipped directly to household consumers in normal retail quantities and cannot be exported to foreign countries.
