What this bill would do
This Act, known as the "MAP for Broadband Funding Act," aims to modernize and improve the Broadband Funding Map. It directs the FCC to coordinate with the NTIA to collect data from Federal agencies to ensure efficient use of funds and prevent fragmentation. The Commission is required to initiate an inquiry into the map's functionality, transparency, and data quality. This inquiry must evaluate factors such as data adequacy, usability, and the potential inclusion of third-party data. Additionally, the Act mandates a study by the Comptroller General regarding the roles and progress of agencies maintaining the map. The results of this study will be submitted to the appropriate congressional committees.
