What this bill would do
The Paraquat Prevention Act aims to cancel the registration of all uses of the pesticide paraquat. Under this bill, paraquat is deemed to cause unreasonable adverse effects on the environment. The Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency would be required to cancel all registrations for the substance. Additionally, the Administrator must revoke any tolerances or exemptions for paraquat residues in food. The bill also prohibits the sale and use of existing stocks of the pesticide. Finally, the EPA is prohibited from reregistering paraquat.
