What this bill would do
This bill, known as the "IMPACT to Save Moms Act," directs the Administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to establish a Perinatal Care Alternative Payment Model Demonstration Project. The project is intended to run from fiscal years 2027 through 2031. It allows States to test various payment models for maternity care provided to pregnant and postpartum individuals enrolled in State Medicaid and child health plans. The Secretary is tasked with coordinating with various stakeholders, including medical providers and patient organizations. Finally, the Secretary must evaluate the project's impact on health outcomes and spending before reporting findings to Congress.
