What this bill would do
This bill establishes the "Commission on Natural Disaster Risk Management and Insurance," an independent and nonpartisan group. The Commission is tasked with examining the risks natural disasters pose to the United States and finding ways to reduce associated financial costs. Members will include experts in insurance, emergency management, engineering, and other related fields. The group will assess issues such as insurance availability, land use regulations, and the impact of demographic trends on disaster risk. After conducting its study, the Commission must submit a detailed report containing findings and recommendations to several Congressional committees. The Commission will terminate 90 days after its report is submitted.
