What this bill would do
This bill authorizes a pilot program under section 258 of the National Housing Act to establish an automated process for providing additional credit rating information. The goal is to evaluate the benefits of using credit scoring models that utilize additional data for mortgagors and prospective mortgagors. Under this program, individuals can elect to opt into the use of these additional credit scoring models. The Secretary must select these models and provide notices to prospective mortgagors regarding their options. The pilot program will include specific reporting requirements to Congress to evaluate its effectiveness and impact.
