What this bill would do
This bill, known as the "Nitrous Oxide Safety Act of 2026," seeks to ban the sale of consumer products containing nitrous oxide.
The prohibition would take effect 180 days after the Act is enacted.
However, the bill includes specific exceptions to this ban.
Nitrous oxide use remains legal for medical or dental treatments, commercial food production, and research and development.
Additionally, the ban does not apply to food products where nitrous oxide acts as a propellant in a pressurized container.
