What this bill would do
This bill is called the "American Families First Assistance Act." It seeks to change the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996. The main goal is to limit which aliens can receive benefits from the temporary assistance for needy families program. Most qualified aliens would be ineligible for these block grants. However, some specific exceptions for certain aliens would still apply.
