What this bill would do
The Disaster Management Costs Modernization Act aims to amend the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act. It seeks to incentivize States, Indian Tribes, and Territories to close out their disaster recovery projects more efficiently. The bill allows for the use of excess funds from management costs to be applied toward other disaster recovery projects. These funds can be used for building capacity to prepare for or recover from disasters, as well as for various management costs. The President is authorized to make these excess funds available to specific grantees.
