What this bill would do
This bill is called the Safe Intersections for Buses and Pedestrians Act. It requires new motorcoaches manufactured for sale in the United States to have a minimally obstructed forward-facing view from the driver's seat. Within one year of the enactment of the section, the Secretary, acting through the Administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, must prescribe these motor vehicle safety standards. The bill also allows these standards to be met by using a camera or other technological means that comply with Standard 101. A covered motorcoach is defined using the meaning of the term bus.
