What this bill would do
This bill, titled the "Bolstering the Northeast Home Heating Oil Reserve Act," requires the Secretary of Energy to conduct a long-range strategic review of the Northeast Home Heating Oil Reserve. The Secretary must complete this review within 180 days of the act's enactment. Following the review, a report must be submitted to Congress regarding the reserve's role in energy and economic security. This report must evaluate whether existing legal authorities are adequate for meeting current and future goals. Additionally, the report must recommend an action plan to optimize the reserve's capacity, location, and distribution. Finally, the Secretary must estimate the resources needed to maintain the reserve's long-term effectiveness.
