What this bill would do
The Vaccine Transportation Access Act authorizes the Secretary of Health and Human Services to award grants to qualified community organizations. These grants are intended to remove transportation barriers for individuals in low-income, minority, or other underserved communities seeking eligible vaccines. The program allows for financing projects such as prescheduled or on-demand transportation, including first and last mile services. The Secretary may enter into agreements with State health agencies to carry out these duties and transfer funds to them. Additionally, the bill amends the Social Security Act to set the Federal medical assistance percentage at 100 percent for certain nonemergency transportation benefits related to eligible vaccines.
