What this bill would do

This bill, known as the "Dye Free Procurement Act," aims to change how the government buys food. It prohibits executive agencies from renewing or starting contracts for food that contains specific "covered color additives." These additives include Red No. 40, Yellow No. 5, Yellow No. 6, Green No. 3, Blue No. 1, Blue No. 2, Citrus Red No. 2, and Orange B. Additionally, agencies must prioritize buying food that has no color additives at all when it is practical and available. The rules would take effect six months after the act is passed.
