What this bill would do
This bill, known as the "Modular Housing Production Act," directs the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development to review FHA construction financing programs. The goal is to find and remove barriers that prevent the use of modular home construction methods. The Secretary must evaluate regulatory features and administrative measures that might restrict developers. Following the review, a report must be published within one year describing recommended changes. Additionally, the Secretary is required to start a rulemaking process to examine alternative loan draw schedules for developers. Finally, the Secretary may award a grant to study the feasibility of a standardized uniform commercial code for modular homes.
