What this bill would do

The "Veterans Healthcare Improvement Act" requires the Comptroller General of the United States to review specific budget requests from the President. These reviews focus on medical care accounts within the Department of Veterans Affairs for fiscal years 2026, 2027, and 2028. The Comptroller General must report the results of these reviews to the Senate and House Committees on Veterans' Affairs, Appropriations, and the Budget. The Comptroller General will also consult with the Committees on Veterans' Affairs to determine the timing and scope of these reports.
