What this bill would do
This bill establishes the Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage Advancement Commission within the Department of Agriculture. The Commission is made up of various government officials, industry representatives, and local stakeholders. Its main job is to make policy recommendations and create metrics for improving federal policy regarding bioenergy with carbon capture and storage systems. The Commission must submit a report to Congress within one year of its first meeting detailing its findings on job growth, energy costs, forest health, and wildfire mitigation. It also has the power to hold hearings, request information from federal agencies, and hire personnel. The Commission will officially shut down 180 days after submitting its required report to Congress.
