What this bill would do
This bill is called the Northern Arizona Protection Act. It cancels Presidential Proclamation 10606, which created the Baaj Nwaavjo I'tah Kukveni-Ancestral Footprints of the Grand Canyon National Monument. The text also stops certain land in Arizona from being restricted from mineral entry by wiping out the old proclamation. Furthermore, it stops any future monument designations or extensions in that specific area unless Congress gives explicit authorization. Our elected officials need to be held accountable for how these public lands and mineral entries are managed.

Who it would affect, and how
Potential Positive Impacts for People
- Section 2(a) nullifies Presidential Proclamation 10606, which could be seen as positive because it removes the previous withdrawal of certain land in Arizona from mineral entry.
Potential Negative Impacts for People
- Section 2(b) restricts the future establishment or extension of national monuments in the specified area without express authorization from Congress, which could be viewed negatively by individuals who want the monument protections permanently kept in place without needing a new act of Congress.
