What this bill would do

This bill is called the Safe Embassies Act. It updates the Diplomatic Security Act. The main goal is to make sure our elected officials are held accountable when decisions are made. Specifically, it changes what the government must tell Congress. If officials decide to re-open a high risk and high threat diplomatic post, they now have to include a special explanation. This explanation must cover the national security value of that decision.
