What this bill would do
The "Growing Opportunities in Agriculture Act," also known as the "GO Ag Act," directs the Secretary of Education to award competitive grants to support new agricultural education programs in secondary schools. These grants are intended for the creation of programs that are not yet in operation and may last for up to 5 years. Eligible entities must provide detailed descriptions of how the funds will benefit students and how programs will be sustained after the grant ends. Funds can be used for curriculum development, equipment, technology, and other costs determined by the Secretary. The act also requires independent evaluations and annual reports regarding program performance. A total of $5,000,000 is authorized to carry out this section through fiscal year 2028.
