What this bill would do
The Securing Global Telecommunications Act requires the development of a strategy to promote secure telecommunications infrastructure worldwide. The Secretary of State must create a strategy to encourage the use of trusted networks, data centers, and 6G technologies in other countries. This strategy includes efforts regarding mobile networks, low-Earth orbit satellites, and aerostats. Additionally, the bill requires a report on Russian and Chinese strategies to influence the International Telecommunication Union. The Act also mandates a report on opportunities for multilateral coordination with allies to promote secure infrastructure.
