What this bill would do

This bill, known as the "Department of Education Protection Act," seeks to restrict how certain money can be used. It prohibits the Department of Education from using funds provided by previous Appropriations Acts to implement a reorganization. Specifically, it prevents using these funds for any activity that would decentralize, reduce staffing, or change the structure and authority of the Department. This restriction is measured against how the Department was organized on January 1, 2025.
