What this bill would do
This bill, titled the "Ensuring Women's Right to Reproductive Freedom Act," aims to prevent interference with interstate abortion services by individuals acting under the color of State law. It prohibits state-sanctioned actions that restrict a provider's ability to give abortion services to out-of-state patients. The legislation also protects the ability of individuals to travel across state lines for such services or to assist others in doing so. Additionally, it protects the movement of FDA-approved drugs used for terminating a pregnancy through interstate commerce. The Attorney General is empowered to bring civil actions for relief, and a private right of action is provided for harmed individuals.
