What this bill would do
The Interactive Federal Review Act aims to improve the environmental review process for highway projects. It proposes the use of interactive, digital, cloud-based platforms and 3-dimensional digital models, known as digital twins. The Secretary of Transportation is tasked with encouraging project sponsors to use these technologies during environmental impact analyses and community engagement. The Secretary must also select at least 10 "covered projects" to demonstrate how these digital tools work. Finally, the Act requires reports to Congress regarding the effectiveness of these digital methods.
