What this bill would do
This bill, known as the ``Improving Mental Health Access for Students Act'', aims to include suicide prevention resources on student identification cards. Institutions that create and distribute these cards must include phone contact information for the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, the Crisis Text Line, and a campus mental health center or program. For institutions that do not distribute identification cards, the required contact information must be published on their website. The Secretary is permitted to designate a different entity if the specified organizations cease to exist. The mandate takes effect one year after the act is enacted.
