What this bill would do
This bill, known as the "Patriots Over Politics Act," seeks to amend title 38 of the United States Code. It directs the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to allow certain former members of the Armed Forces to transfer their educational assistance to their dependents. This applies specifically to individuals who were involuntarily or voluntarily separated from their service solely due to refusing a COVID-19 vaccination between August 24, 2021, and January 10, 2023. Potential Negative Impacts for People
- Limited Time Frame for Transfer: The Secretary is only required to allow the transfer during a 90-day period that begins on the date this subsection is enacted (Section 2, subsection m(1)).
