What this bill would do
This bill, known as the "Magnifying Opportunities to Recruit and Educate Nurses Act" or the "MORE Nurses Act," directs the National Advisory Council on Nurse Education and Practice to investigate the nursing shortage. The Council is tasked with examining the nursing workforce capacity, including trends and the capacity to educate new nurses. It also requires an investigation into the causes of the shortage and the impact of Federal policies. The Council must identify areas of Federal policy related to nursing education, diversity, and incentives for underserved areas. Finally, the Council must recommend solutions to policymakers and submit a report to the President, Congress, and the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
