What this bill would do
This bill, known as the "Disaster Relief Transparency Act," requires the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development to submit a report to specific House and Senate committees. The report must explain the methodology used to allocate funds for the Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery Program and the Community Development Block Grant Mitigation Program to various government entities. It also requires the report to explain why allocations might differ between appropriations. Additionally, the Secretary must provide recommendations to improve the consistency and timeliness of these allocations. The first report is due within 90 days of enactment, covering fiscal years 2024 and 2025. Subsequent reports are to be submitted at the end of each fiscal year starting in 2026.
