What this bill would do

This bill, known as the "Finger Lakes National Heritage Area Act," seeks to amend the John D. Dingell, Jr. Conservation, Management, and Recreation Act. It proposes to establish the Finger Lakes National Heritage Area in the State of New York as a component of the National Heritage Area System. This designated area would include Cayuga, Chemung, Cortland, Livingston, Monroe, Onondaga, Ontario, Schuyler, Seneca, Steuben, Tioga, Tompkins, Wayne, and Yates Counties. The Finger Lakes Tourism Alliance is named as the local coordinating entity. Additionally, the local coordinating entity must submit a proposed management plan to the Secretary of the Interior for approval within 3 years of the Act's enactment.
