What this bill would do
This bill, known as the "PAGER Act," aims to prohibit federal funds from being provided to the armed forces of Lebanon. Funding would remain unavailable until the Secretary of State certifies that several conditions regarding the Government of Lebanon and Hezbollah are met. These conditions include the removal of certain political groups from the government and the disarmament of Hezbollah. The Act also limits funding to the United Nations Development Programme for specific livelihood support programs. Additionally, it designates Suhil Bahij Gharab as a specially designated global terrorist.
