What this bill would do
This bill, known as the ``US-Kazakhstan Trade Modernization Act'', seeks to authorize the extension of nondiscriminatory treatment to products from Kazakhstan. It provides the President with the authority to determine that title IV of the Trade Act of 1974 should no longer apply to Kazakhstan. Once this determination is made, the President can proclaim the extension of normal trade relations treatment to Kazakhstan's products. Upon this proclamation, title IV of the Trade Act of 1974 would cease to apply to the country. This action follows findings that Kazakhstan allows its citizens the right to emigrate without heavy taxes or fees.
