What this amendment would do
Mr. King, along with Ms. Warren and Mr. Kaine, submitted amendment SA 950 to the concurrent resolution S. Con. Res. 7 for the fiscal year 2025 budget.
The purpose of this amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund for legislation that does not decrease Internal Revenue Service (IRS) enforcement funds.
It aims to change the bill by striking lines on pages 52 and 53 and inserting a section that allows the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Budget to revise allocations and make adjustments for legislation, provided that the legislation does not reduce funding for IRS enforcement activities—such as auditing wealthy taxpayers with outstanding tax liabilities—and does not increase the deficit from fiscal year 2025 through 2034.
