What this amendment would do
Mr. Schatz submitted amendment SA 714 to the concurrent resolution setting forth the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2025 and setting forth appropriate budgetary levels for fiscal years 2026 through 2034.
The purpose of this amendment is to add a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to the food distribution program on Indian reservations at the end of title III.
It aims to allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels, and make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger.
This can be done for legislation relating to food security in low-income households, which may include enacting measures to provide for regional distribution networks for the food distribution program on Indian reservations established under section 4(b) of the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008.
To make these changes, the legislation must not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
