What this amendment would do
Ms. Slotkin submitted this amendment, numbered SA 670, to the concurrent resolution setting the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2025 and through fiscal year 2034.
The purpose of the amendment is to add a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to preserving an apolitical military at the end of title III.
It aims to allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise allocations, aggregates, and other levels for legislation relating to the integrity of our Armed Forces.
Specifically, this can include legislation that prohibits using taxpayer dollars to fire, reassign, demote, or retaliate against any member of the Armed Forces or retired members for obeying lawful and legal orders.
It also aims to include legislation that prohibits revoking security clearances, security details, or denying retirement benefits to these individuals, as long as the legislation does not increase the deficit from fiscal year 2025 through 2034.
