What this amendment would do

This amendment, submitted by Mr. Padilla and Mr. Bennet, aims to add a section to bill S. 4784 regarding Navy University Research Initiatives (PE 0601103N).

The purpose of the amendment is to:

  • Require the Secretary of the Navy to continue the Navy University Research Initiatives and carry out its funded activities during fiscal year 2027.

  • Increase the amount authorized for research, development, test, and evaluation by $41,900,000.

  • Offset that increase by reducing the amount authorized for operations and maintenance by $41,900,000.

  • Make up to $116,900,000 available for Navy University Research Initiatives from the funds authorized for research, development, test, and evaluation.
