What this amendment would do

SA 6405, submitted by Mr. Schatz, aims to add a section regarding Pentagon press access to bill S. 4784.

The purpose of this amendment is to require the Secretary of Defense to do the following within 30 days of the Act's enactment:

  • Restore press access to areas of the Pentagon that were accessible on May 22, 2025, specifically including other designated press working spaces and the "Correspondence Corridor".

  • Restore unescorted press access to relevant Pentagon areas that did not require an escort on May 22, 2025.

  • Make the Pentagon Force Protection Agency lead the management of press credentials.

  • Stop any changes to press credentials, access areas, or the designation of press work spaces without first consulting the Committee on Armed Services of both the House of Representatives and the Senate.
